Microsoft...

Posted by Oldsage10 Oct. 9, 2008 @ 12:08 AM EDT

What is their problem over at Microsoft... I used to love PC's but the more errors I find, the better and better Mac and Linux look to me... I don't want to have to start over again and leave all my old files behind, but if I don't see improvement by Microsoft with their computers and OS'es, when my old machine (and I'm praying it doesn't) craps out on me, I will not buy a new sleek PC with Vista just to deal with more errors... XP is the God of Microsoft OS'es and they are going to stop selling copies soon...

That above rant is based off the following facts:

- I looked into MS Service Pack 3 for XP, I liked the features.
- I decided to download it...
- Microsoft kindly told me that I needed IE5 or higher, now I use Firefox, so my IE has been uninstalled for a while
- I downloaded IE7
- I opened the installer...
- ERROR!
- "Microsoft Installer detects that a previous copy of Internet Explorer is running on this machine. Please properly uninstall or reinstall that copy to ensure that your Internet Files are properly rewritten."
- So now I spend like 20 minutes trying to find my old IE6.
- I find IE6
- I properly reinstall IE6
- I'm just about to download the service pack when...
- Pizza, oh no wait sorry...
- ERROR!
- "You must be running Internet Explorer 5 or later on your machine to download from the updates center, alternatively, you can find Service Pack 3 in the downloads page.
- So now I find the downloads page, and BTW I just downloaded a very large file from Firefox and it took me like 3 minutes.
- I get this pleasant little pop-up...
